Documentary

This documentary was made by my friend Alejandro Zavala. He chose me to create a documentary for his film application. This dance documentary is about my experience with dance and lessons I’ve learned through dance.

BYU LIVNG LEGENDS

College of Fine Arts and Communications Feature

I was on the BYU Living Legends dance team for four years and choreographed for the Latin American section for three. I had the privilege in helping the group create a new show for the upcoming generations. I was honored to be featured in this CFAC feature alongside my artistic director and other Arts Managers

Choreographic Experience

Aside from being a dancer, I have been choreographing several cultural dance styles since I was 18. I have choreographed for several local groups, the BYU Living Legends touring team for three years, the International Folk Dance program and the LDS Latino production Luz de las Naciones. January of 2026, I decided to start my own dance company called “Ballet Folklorico de Efrain Villalobos” To continue sharing Latin American cultural dances with the use of Fusion as a choreographic tool to emphasize our history, stories and contemporary messages in a more modern way. I continue to choreograph for several cultural events in Utah and set pieces for other groups and Universities. I am a Masters student at Jacksonville University, going into my second year of my MFA in Choreography. My thesis project “Resilience: Choreographic Fusion in Latin American Folkloric dance” Was approved July 23rd 2026 where I will now create my movement work for March of 2027 before graduation.
